At GCM Event Management, we know an opportunity when we see one. For example, we understand that a new year is a chance to start good habits, and refresh our commitment to old ones.

To start 2020 off right, we’re renewing our focus on one of GCM Event Management’s strongest assets: mentorship. From day one, new hires are paired with a coach to help guide them through the first steps of their new career. This ensures that novice team members feel supported, and that they also have a go-to person for any questions they may have.

Then, as team members connect with other industry leaders at conferences and retreats, they gain access to even more wisdom from experienced promotional specialists. This connection between networking and mentorship is one reason we put such strong emphasis on contact skills in our training program: when one of our crew meets a potential mentor, we want a confident conversation to ensue, followed by a clean follow up.

The chance to find mentors outside of the office inspires our travel program as well. We gain valuable knowledge every time we’re around the top producers in our industry, and this is done by traveling to events where they will be speaking. There’s no substitute for seeing someone speak from the stage, then getting the chance to shake their hand and ask them questions that are unique to our situations.
